Hey my Tomb Riders, let me ask you something: Have you ever stopped and wondered—is photography really on its way out? Are you feeling anxious—maybe even a little spooked—about this unstoppable wave of AI swooping in and snapping up creative jobs?
Because I’ll tell you this—I get questions like this every single day. People are asking, “Is photography finished? Are photographers done forever?”
Let’s talk about it. Because this is huge.
Now, I’m no mystic gazing into a crystal ball, but I am seeing some pretty wild stuff happening right now. It’s like we’re all living in the “Wild West” of generative AI.
Think back just ten years—social media exploded, and suddenly, everyone became a photographer. Then came TikTok and YouTube, and guess what? We all had to start learning video too. And just when we finally got the hang of that, boom—AI storms in, screaming “Create, create, create!”—photos, videos, music, writing—everything, all at once. It’s relentless. And for a lot of people? It’s stressful as hell.
Imagine this: You wake up tomorrow and AI can create breathtaking images instantly, at zero cost. What does that mean for photographers? For creatives? Does it kill the industry—or does it open up a whole new world of possibilities?
Twenty years ago, we built our skills step by step, year by year. We knew what to learn, we knew what was valuable. Now? It feels like anything we master today could be useless by next week. It’s exhausting. It’s exhilarating. It’s terrifying. And let’s be honest—we’ve never had to sift through so much fake vs. real in our lives.
So what happens next? Let me share three major things I see on the horizon. That last one? It’s a total game changer.
AI Blocker Startups – Just like ad blockers, we’re going to start seeing tools that help us filter out AI-generated content. People will want authenticity, and tech will step in to help. Expect it.
Photographers & Videographers Will Pivot – I’ve seen this pattern before. Every time a new tech wave hits—digital cameras, smartphones, drones—some people panic and quit. Others adapt, reinvent, and thrive. History always repeats itself.
AI Will Be Regulated & Taxed – Governments need tax money, folks. And they hate losing control. AI-generated content will be regulated—not just the sales, but the act of creating it. Just like crypto. This will shake out a ton of wannabe artists and leave room for professionals who know what they’re doing.
So what does this mean for photographers, filmmakers, and creatives?
Simple: Stay calm. Stay sharp. Focus on the skills that are timeless.
That’s exactly what I teach in my online course—because in 2-3 years, real photographers will be more exclusive than ever. And guess what? The ones who survive this Wild West will be able to charge way more for their work. The demand for real, human creativity will skyrocket.
Now, I want to hear from YOU.
How are you feeling about all this? Does AI spark your imagination or keep you up at night? Maybe both?
Drop your thoughts below. Are we heading toward a nightmare—or the biggest creative opportunity of our lives?
Let’s talk. Because you know what? This story is just beginning—and we’re all writing it together.
